Wikimedia from Wikipedia

Looks like Wikipedia is installing terabytes of server space to allow for more audio, video and other media files to be added to the growing resource site.

How will this effect the "communal construction" of reference information?

  1. I think it can only act to make the resource pages themselves more robust, granting a similar effect on the community as a whole. Also, on a side note I think a lot of the media in their repository is great for mashing up/remixing stuff. I know I have used Wikimedia several times in video/film projects. So, I would imagine additional space for media would also bolster periphery remix/mash up communities as well.
